'Richard Evans knows his subject inside out'.
Susan Elkin, The Stage, 2014
Richard Evans CDG has been casting since 1989, and has since worked on a wide variety of productions in every media. For the 10 years prior to this, he was an actor himself and therefore writes AUDITIONS: THE COMPLETE GUIDE from knowledge and experiences amassed on both sides of the audition table. He is a member of The Casting Directors' Guild of Great Britain and Ireland.
He has also written the books Auditions: A Practical Guide (Routledge 2009) and two editions of Self Taping: The Actor's Guide (Lulu.com, 2014 & 2019) as well as writing 'A Casting Director's Perspective' for The Actors' Yearbook 2005 and many features and articles on audition and career related topics for newspapers and magazines, some of which can be seen on the Advice page. In addition, he has devised and presented audition and career development workshops at the Actors Centre, London and at many top drama and theatre schools worldwide, and hosted live events for The Stage and Samuel French Ltd.
As well as his work in casting, he is currently writing a new book, which will be published in 2020, so watch this space!

'I like the book and I like Richard Evans. He is a generous - and empathetic - man, who obviously loves the theatre and actors. He is doing everything he can to be helpful and his voice is most welcome'.
